| since it’s the lenten season, i’ve decided to abstain from the following: 1. coffee - yup! this one's a sure challenge. i love/need my caffeine in the morning. i am however trying to get used to tea. my favorite being chai tea, earl grey (or any black tea) with milk, chamomile... 2. starbucks – this means no to my favorite passion iced tea, black tea or zen (at least for a month or so) it also means no buying of any starbucks merch. i am of course still allowed to use my starbucks mug, coaster and planner right? oh, and this includes not buying from any over priced coffee shops: Seattle’s best, sanfo coffee, coffee bean, Figaro, bo’s coffee, ucc… tea square is okay, tea republic not. Just as long as my drink is around P50 it should be okay. 3. red meat – this one’s doable. i’ve been trying to go on a diet since forever. this is a start, and will be a great help. 4. pasta – this is going to be hard, even torturous. . i can’t say no to pasta. But, for the Lenten season i will. the sauce is okay, it’s the noodles/carbs i’m trying to avoid. one time pasta is served, i honestly can’t help myself (plus, there’s no other food, what am I going to do starve?) so being the resourceful person that i am, i doused my toasted (wheat) bread with the spaghetti sauce. kinda like the same thing. but it’s not pasta. yum yum yum! 5. junkfood/chocolates – another hard one (but what’s the point of abstaining from something not hard?) i’m actually opting for abstaining from sweets, but let’s not try to kill myself shall we? I still need the sugar. This doesn’t include chocolate flavored food though (like my favorite choc flavored oatmeal), like I said I still need a bit of sugar in my system. and the junkfood? basically all the chips you can imagine. nachos not included. 6. fast food – this doesn’t include the salad from wendy’s, kfc, jolibee, mcd’s etc. i’m pertaining to the burger (fish fillet included), fries and deep fried chicken. i will try to lessen my visit to fast food joints, unless however, there are no other options. i’m going backpacking this summer, i can’t be picky and look for a salad bar at the middle of nowhere now, right? 7. shopping – gasp! Can’t. Breathe. Just. Thinking. About. It. okay okay, let’s make it bearable and realistic (i can’t say no to free stuff now, can i?) i can’t shop/buy something i don’t need. and of course anything my parents paid for (anything free) is okay. so, this means i can still buy a backpack, bikini and board shorts for my trip to sorsogon! yay! books and office supplies stuff are okay too. so, no to rustans, zara, dorothy perkins, top shop, people are people, havaianas etc. unless of course (as mentioned before) offered by my parents (or some good soul). okaay, so these are what i'm planning to stay away from for a couple of weeks (at least until the seson ends) let's just hope i'm still alive and kicking by then... ü † |
